Three favourite home remedies for yeast infections are: garlic, plain yoghurt and apple cider vinegar.
Inserting 1 garlic tablet or a garlic clove into the vagina (for vaginal yeast infection) or rubbing a clove of garlic over the infected area (elsewhere on the body), every few hours, as needed, can provide instant relief.
Garlic is a natural antibiotic, a big enemy of yeast and this is one of the most effective home remedies. Make sure any garlic tablets you use are natural and pure.
The yoghurt used must be the plain, unsweetened variety because sugar feeds yeast – which is the opposite of what you want.
Can be used internally, to help restore balance, or externally to assist in easing symptoms.
For a topical treatment simply rub the yoghurt onto the infected area. For vaginal infection dip a tampon into plain yoghurt and insert it into your vagina. Once the symptoms have been relieved – the itching &/or burning is gone and the area feels soothed, remove the yoghurt (or tampon) as leaving it on for a prolonged period will make you feel itchier due to the moisture.
Warning – do not use undiluted on the skin, it will burn like you wouldn’t believe! Always use the natural vinegar with the Mother, never the plain white vinegar as this will feed the yeast instead of killing it.
The best way to use this externally is to add a cup of it into your bathwater. It may not be as long lasting as the garlic or yoghurt but it will feel very soothing and relaxing.
