Yeast Infection Remedies For Women – Do Over The Counter Treatments Really Work? July 18, 2011

There are many yeast infection remedies for women available over the counter. Yeast infections are common in women, as a result there are many medicated treatments available, but do these treatments really work?

If your infection is occassional and not recurring these treatments may be of use.If you have a recurring infection (more than 4 occurrences in the past 12 months) you may need to consult your doctor and find alternative treatments.

Around 75% of women will experience a yeast infection at some stage of their lives. Yeasts  occur naturally on our bodies but favour warm, dark, moist places best. The vagina is the ideal yeast haven and vaginal yeast infection is one of the most common types of yeast infection.

If you think you have a yeast infection, particularly vaginal yeast infection it is important to obtain a proper diagnosis as there are other conditions which can produce the same symptoms, chlamydia and gonorrhea among them. The symptoms of yeast infection can include itchiness, burning, redness, pain during intercourse and/or urination, inflammation, and also an unpleasant odor. No wonder women look for an immediate over-the counter treatment.

An effective course of treatment should clear up the problem in 7 days. If the infection persists or comes back you should see your doctor or change your treatment.

Over the counter yeast infection remedies for women tend to be aimed at relieving the symptoms rather than treating the cause. A yeast infection occurs when the natural balance of yeast cells is upset and the yeast cells proliferate – resulting in an infection. In order to cure the problem you need to not only kill the excess yeast cells but restore the natural balance as well. This can only happen by restoring the balance of good bacteria that keeps the yeast cells in check. Over the counter treatments are not designed to do this.

This can be particularly problematic in the case of a recurring yeast infection as, once the symptoms have cleared up and the treatment stops, the balance is still in favour of the yeast and it comes back – often with a vengence.

For this reason many women with recurring yeast infections have found natural alternatives to be most useful as, in addition to relieving the symptoms, they also assist to restore the body’s natural balance of good bacteria and thus treat the cause of the infection.

How To Get Rid Of Yeast Naturally – Product Review July 12, 2011

Hi, my name is Melissa Riggs and, like many women, I have suffered from yeast infections on and off throughout my life.

I have found, through trial and error that, although there are a number of products on the market that will mask the symptoms, the e-book, How To Get Rid Of Yeast Naturally, is the one that gave me natural treatments that were not only quick and remarkably easy, when I used these treatments the yeast infection was cured permanently.

If you would like to skip the review and go straight to the sales page click here.

How To Get Rid Of Yeast Naturally, although not long, does suffer from the ‘made for women’ syndrome that most yeast infection products suffer from. I guess they assume that the person looking for health treatments is always a woman. However, if you are a man, don’t be put off by the chick on the cover – there is always a chick on the cover! Inside there is plenty of information specifically for men and most of the treatments can be aimed at either a man or a woman. The language of the book is frank and easy to read, without any jargon and there are a large range of treatments covered, so there will be something to suit everyone. The book covers treatment of infants and children as well.

The book is downloadable and you can be using the treatments 10 minutes from now.

If you like long, lengthy explanations and detailed information that goes on for pages and pages this is not the book for you. If you like succinct, straight to the point language and information presented in a clear and practical manner that cuts to the chase and is intended to be used then I think you will like this e-book. Also, if you prefer immediate results in terms of relief from symptoms like itching and burning, you will not be disappointed either. If, for some reason you are, there is a 60 day money-back guarantee.

On the whole, although it probably could have been longer (and maybe included a man on the cover) this book is easy to read, well priced (only $19), easy to use and manages to cover a great deal of information without jargon and, most of all, it does provide the results that it promises.

Favourite Natural And Home Remedies For Yeast Infection July 11, 2011

Three favourite home remedies for yeast infections are: garlic, plain yoghurt and apple cider vinegar.

Inserting 1 garlic tablet or a garlic clove into the vagina (for vaginal yeast infection) or rubbing a clove of garlic over the infected area (elsewhere on the body), every few hours, as needed, can provide instant relief.

Garlic is a natural antibiotic, a big enemy of yeast and this is one of the most effective home remedies. Make sure any garlic tablets you use are natural and pure.

Plain Yoghurt:

The yoghurt used must be the plain, unsweetened variety because sugar feeds yeast – which is the opposite of what you want.

Can be used internally, to help restore balance, or externally to assist in easing symptoms.

For a topical treatment simply rub the yoghurt onto the infected area. For vaginal infection dip a tampon into plain yoghurt and insert it into your vagina. Once the symptoms have been relieved – the itching &/or burning is gone and the area feels soothed, remove the yoghurt (or tampon) as leaving it on for a prolonged period will make you feel itchier due to the moisture.

Apple-Cider Vinegar:

Warning – do not use undiluted on the skin, it will burn like you wouldn’t believe! Always use the natural vinegar with the Mother, never the plain white vinegar as this will feed the yeast instead of killing it.

The best way to use this externally is to add a cup of it into your bathwater. It may not be as long lasting as the garlic or yoghurt but it will feel very soothing and relaxing.
